Supported Housing Week 2026: The difference a place to call home makes

Everyone deserves a place to call home. A place where they feel safe, have the freedom to make choices and can build a life that reflects who they are and what matters to them.

This week (19–23 October) marks the National Housing Federation’s (NHF) first-ever Supported Housing Week, a national campaign highlighting the life-changing role supported housing plays and calling for a secure future for these vital services.

Golden Lane Housing is joining organisations across the country to celebrate the importance of supported housing and its role in helping people with a learning disability and autistic people to live more independently.

More than a home

Having a home of your own can open up opportunities to make decisions, develop confidence, build relationships and become part of a community.

For people with a learning disability and autistic people, the right home and support can make a significant difference to everyday life. It can provide the foundation for greater independence, choice and control, helping people to pursue their interests, develop new skills and live life on their own terms.

At Golden Lane Housing, our purpose is to support people with a learning disability and autistic people to live the lives they choose. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to feel at home, be valued and have the freedom to shape their own future.

Putting people at the heart of what we do

Every person’s experience of home is different. That’s why listening to people, understanding what matters to them and recognising their individual aspirations are so important.

Supported housing is not simply about providing somewhere to live. It’s about creating the conditions in which people can feel secure, exercise choice and enjoy the opportunities that matter to them.

During Supported Housing Week, we’re proud to recognise the value of supported housing and the positive role it can play in people’s lives, their families and their communities.

Championing supported housing

Supported Housing Week, led by the National Housing Federation, raises awareness of the vital contribution supported housing makes across England and highlights the importance of ensuring people can access the homes and support they need.

We’re proud to stand alongside others across the sector in championing supported housing and raising awareness of its importance.

Because a suitable home can be the starting point for so much more: independence, opportunity, belonging and the confidence to live the life you choose.

Everyone deserves a place to call home.
