A new supported living development has celebrated its official opening. Golden Court is a brand-new supported living development providing 16 high-quality, accessible homes for people with care and support needs.
The development, which comprises 12 apartments and four bungalows, has been designed to give people the opportunity to have a home of their own, with the right support around them to live independently and be part of their local community.
The official launch brought together representatives from Golden Lane Housing, Norfolk County Council, Avenues Group, HBV Group and ATEL Design and Build, to celebrate the completion of the development whose collaboration made the new homes possible.
The development responds to the need for more self-contained housing that enables people with care and support needs to live safely and independently in their local communities. Golden Court was made possible through £2.35 million of capital funding from Norfolk County Council and is part of the council’s wider programme to increase the availability of specialist supported living across Norfolk.
The homes have been designed with accessibility, sustainability and independence at their heart, providing modern living spaces where residents can feel safe, have greater choice and control over their lives, and build connections within their community.
For some residents, moving into Golden Court will represent an important milestone – the opportunity to have their own front door and a place they can truly call home.
The scheme is part of a growing programme of specialist supported living developments being delivered through the partnership between Norfolk County Council and Golden Lane Housing. It follows the successful completion of Makers Close in Norwich, which officially opened earlier this year and provides 12 apartments and six bungalows for people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and autistic people.

“We are incredibly proud to have worked alongside Norfolk County Council, Avenues, HBV Group and ATEL Design and Build to turn this vision into reality. Golden Court is another fantastic example of what can be achieved when partners share a commitment to creating high-quality, inclusive homes that enable people to live the lives they choose.”
Councillor Scott Hussey, Norfolk County Council cabinet member for Adult Social Care and Public Health, said:

“Residents who move into these homes will have opportunities to learn new skills, make new friends, and become part of a community.”

Golden Lane Housing will provide the homes, while specialist support will be provided by Avenues Group, supporting residents to develop their independence and live fulfilling lives within their community.
Golden Court marks another significant milestone in the development of specialist supported living across Norfolk and demonstrates the difference that can be made when housing, social care and development partners work together around the needs and aspirations of the people who will call these homes their own.
