We spoke to Golden Lane Housing tenant Jack and Golden Lane Housing landlord, Paddy, about the relationship they have built, and the importance of having a safe and secure place to call home.
Jack is a Golden Lane Housing tenant living in a property owned by Paddy in Cumbria. Since Jack moved into his home, he has built a great friendship with Paddy. He has also gained a lot more confidence and is learning lots of new skills:
“I like setting things up and sorting the technology out in the house. I get on with my housemates and I’ve gotten more independent now I live in this house. I’ve painted my living room light pink. I listen to my support staff and they help me to make my own decisions. With my team leader, I’m going to improve my cooking. I want to take Paddy on a trip to Dinosaur World.”
Paddy chose to rent his property with Golden Lane Housing because he believes that everybody has a right to a safe home to call their own:
“Jack has come out of his shell a lot since he first moved into his home. Everyone, irrespective of who they are, is entitled to a home, which has an address and postcode, THEIR address and postcode. A place to be, a place to call their own, and feel safe”
