Making homes energy efficient – retrofit
Retrofit means making improvements to a home to make it warmer, easier to heat and more energy efficient.
As part of our planned maintenance service, we carry out retrofit works to homes to improve their energy efficiency. By 2030, we want all our homes to have a minimum Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) C rating.
This usually involves:
- adding better insulation to walls, roofs and floors
- upgrading windows and doors
- improving heating systems e.g. air source heat pumps
The goal is to reduce heat loss, lower energy bills and create a healthier home by managing moisture and air (ventilation) better.
What is an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)
An energy performance certificate (EPC) is a document that shows how energy efficient your home is. It uses a rating from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient) helping you understand how much it might cost to heat and power your home.
