Safeguarding Assurance Report 2024/25 easy read guide now available

Golden Lane Housing is proud to launch its easy read guide to the Safeguarding Assurance Report 2024/25 this Safeguarding Adults Week.

This week (17 -21 November 2025) is Safeguarding Adults Week led by The Ann Craft Trust. It is held every year to help raise awareness about the importance of safeguarding. This year’s theme is ‘prevention’, which is all about working together to stop abuse from happening. The safety and wellbeing of tenants is a top priority at Golden Lane Housing, and between April 2024 and March 2025, Golden Lane Housing colleagues supported tenants with 34 safeguarding concerns.

Becky Arrowsmith, Head of Housing and Safeguarding Lead at Golden Lane Housing, has written a blog to go alongside this the Safeguarding Assurance Report:

As Head of Housing and Safeguarding for Golden Lane Housing, I am proud to present this year’s Safeguarding Assurance Report, which reflects not only our responsibilities as a supported housing provider, but also our deep commitment to protecting and empowering our tenants to live fulfilled and safe lives.

“Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do.  Every day, our teams work with individuals who may be facing some of the most challenging times in their lives. Whether recovering from trauma, or navigating complex social situations, our tenants with a learning disability and our autistic tenants deserve to live in homes where they feel safe, respected, and supported.

“The impact of our work is significant.  Behind every concern raised to a local authority safeguarding team or intervention made by us, is a person whose life may have been changed — sometimes in small, unseen ways, and other times in profound, life-changing ones. This report outlines the steps we have taken as an organisation to strengthen our safeguarding approach, respond to concerns quickly and effectively and continue to embed a culture of safety and vigilance across our housing management services.

“I want to take this opportunity to recognise the profound work of our Housing Officers and in-house repairs team – Resolve Solutions.  Their dedication, compassion, and professionalism are the driving force behind everything we achieve.  Time and again, they go above and beyond — not only identifying and responding to concerns regarding the wellbeing of our tenants, but also building the trusting relationships that are so vital to early intervention and meaningful outcomes.

“Safeguarding is never the responsibility of one team alone.  It is a shared responsibility that requires collaboration, communication, and a relentless focus on what is right for our tenants.  All colleagues are Golden Lane Housing truly believe it is their responsibility to raise a concern if they believe a tenant of ours is at risk of abuse and I am so proud of how seriously they take this responsibility at every level of our organisation, and of the continued learning and improvement that we commit to year after year.

“This report highlights our progress, the challenges we have faced, and the key priorities that will shape our safeguarding work moving forward.  It is a testament to the strength of our team and the values that underpin our approach to supported housing: Listening, Caring, Honesty, Reliability, Creativity.

“Together, we continue to create environments where our tenants not only feel safe from harm, but where they can also build the foundations for healthier, more stable and fulfilling lives.
