Maria, Rachael and Alex, Golden Lane Housing (GLH) tenants helped us to choose the new members of our in-house Repairs team.
The morning began with a welcome from Alastair Graham, director before 16 candidates took part in two activities.
Maria, Rachael, Alex and staff observed the discussions that were based on a technical scenario, customer service and our CORE values.
“The first group exercise was about how people would deal with a repairs job. Then people were asked to choose a CORE value and how they would bring this into their work,” said Alex. “They involved me in the group exercises by asking me questions. I explained that I would like the job done properly, to leave my flat clean and tidy and I’d like the person to be friendly. These are really important to me. We scored the people in the group. It’s the first time I’ve helped to interview people. I enjoyed it and would like to do it again. I liked meeting new people too.”
Rachael and Maria explained, “We thought it was brilliant! The people we interviewed were confident, professional and understanding – we liked that. We asked them a few questions including if they had ever worked with people with different needs and a learning disability. We loved the way they spoke to us, they were very clear and responded to us perfectly. We put both the people through and would be happy for either of them to work in our home.”
After lunch the interview day continued with the seven of the candidates taking part in an interview. We will be announcing the members of our new in-house repairs service in the near future.
Thank you to all the candidates, tenants and staff for supporting us with the interview process.
