Three GLH tenants, Alex, Maria and Rachael successfully helped us to recruit Chris Moran and Gavin Herbertson to the team. The launch was held at Irene (pictured) and her friends’ home where works to the bathroom, doors and other small internal works were carried out.

Carla Philips, service manager at Mencap explains, “Having the same person carrying out the repairs work means you can build a relationship and trust. They will get to know Irene, Andrew, Karen and Victoria and the property. It’s reassuring when a person arrives in a uniform and a branded van as it’s official, and everyone will know it’s Gavin coming to do their repairs. Irene often makes the calls to report a repair and she keeps a repairs book.”
Alastair Graham, director explains, “Providing our own in-house Repairs Service team was the direct result of listening to our tenants. With their involvement we have successfully expanded it to cover the whole of the North region, delivering a personalised quality service to more people. It’s an exciting time, and we’re looking forward to expanding it further in the future.”
