Jayne Southern, customer services advisor based at the Head Office in Manchester won the first SPOT (Special Presentation of Thanks) Award.
This award is given to a member of staff that has been recognised for going beyond their role to make a difference to the lives of people with a learning disability, their support networks and staff they work with.
The Leadership Team were extremely impressed with Jayne’s person-centred approach, reassurance and advice whilst providing telephone support to a tenant. Jayne’s quick response in involving the tenant’s support networks and housing officer throughout the day and subsequent weeks ensured the appropriate next steps could be taken.
“I am passionate about helping people with a learning disability. On the Customer Services team we get to know our tenants and their circles of support by giving them tenancy related support over the phone. Being able to help our tenants is a part of the role that I love!
Through the relationship I’d built with the tenant I knew something was wrong. After contacting the right people to raise awareness of my concerns it lead to further action, it was a real team effort.
I am so proud to work for GLH – it’s a great job,” Jayne Southern.
