Golden Lane Housing has been working with our tenants and support providers to raise fire safety awareness.
Over the last 12 months Golden Lane Housing has been working alongside our support providers to raise awareness of fire safety in the home.
We have been advising both tenants and their support providers of the likely causes of a fire, preventative measures and what to do should a fire start.
An easy read fire safety leaflet has been developed for tenants and a fire safety guide provides helpful advice and guidance for support providers to minimise risk and prevent fires. By sharing good quality information we have been able to use a fire safety video produced by Innovate Trust with the help of their tenants with a learning disability.
Nine Golden Lane Housing tenants in Cheshire told us:
“This information is really good. It explains how to stop a fire from happening and what to do if a fire starts. The video gives you lots of helpful advice. I liked the part where they asked the Fire Officers questions. I also liked the advice about what to do if there is a fire in another room and you cannot get out.
We do lots of things to keep safe, like switching off our plugs at the wall before going to bed. We practice our fire escape routes and test our smoke alarms every week. It is important because if a fire starts people need to come out of the house so they keep safe.
It’s good that the video on the website as other people can watch it and their staff. They will learn a lot of things about fire safety.”
