Regulatory judgement published

November 30, 2022

Today the Regulator of Social Housing published its annual stability check for Golden Lane Housing. The stability checks focus on providers’ financial resilience and consider changes to their risk profile, including external economic factors beyond their control.

The Regulator has confirmed our G1 grading for governance and has regraded our previous assessment of financial viability from V1 to V2.  Across the sector, we have a seen a substantial number of other providers moving to V2 grading. It’s important to note that Golden Lane Housing, like these other providers, continue to comply with the financial viability standard. The regulator has reassured that the sector remains in a strong financial position overall considering the recent external economic factors beyond their control.

John Verge, Chief Executive of Golden Lane Housing, said: “The regulator has assurance that we comply with the financial viability elements of their standard, our financial plans support our financial strategy, and we have an adequately funded business plan, sufficient security and are forecast to continue to meet our financial covenants. The results of our stability check recognise the impact of the changing macro-economic situation affecting the whole sector including rises in the interest costs for some of our existing debt and increasing inflationary pressures.  Golden Lane Housing is well placed, with our confirmed G1 grade for governance, to respond to these pressures and continue to invest in new and existing homes for people with learning disabilities across the country.”
