Meet GLH’s new Repairs Service team

As Golden Lane Housing (GLH) launches its new in-house repairs service, the operatives explain why they wanted to join the team and what it means to them.

“We’ve been self-employed contractors for many years and wanted a change. We enjoy being out and about meeting people but wanted more job satisfaction and quality of life. After seeing this job role advertised, we looked on GLH’s website to find out about the organisation, it was just what we were looking for,” explains, Nick Paramore, Sean McKiernan and Scott Harrison, GLH’s in-house Repairs Service team.

“It struck me straight away; I wanted to be part of GLH’s in-house Repairs Service team. This would be an opportunity to make a real difference to people’s lives, this is a job that’s not just about the quality of work, it’s about the people and what’s important to them. I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone,” says Sean.

“Due to my relative’s personal circumstances, I know how important it is for someone to see the same face going into a person’s home and at the time agreed. You build up trust with them,” says Scott.

“I’m looking forward to meeting the tenants and their staff – it makes people feel comfortable once you get to know each other and we are a guest in a person’s home,” explains Nick.

“It’s been great to meet the staff at GLH, everyone’s really friendly, professional and made us feel welcome, there’s a real sense of being part of ‘a team’. The launch of the new in-house repairs service shows the dedication and commitment they have towards their tenants. It’s an exciting time and a real pleasure to be at the start of this journey, we can’t wait to get out on the road!” Nick, Sean and Scott.
